Frequently Asked Questions
I’m ready to start! What do I do first?
Call me right now to schedule a free consultation to discuss your goals and the relevant services available to support your evolution and growth!
What can I expect during my first appointment?
The first session is an extension of the telephone screening. This is your opportunity to tell me your story—what brought you to this point in your life that you are seeking help, and the details of your unique journey. I will help you figure out what your goals for therapy are and what you are expecting your life to look like when this life transformation has occurred. Don’t worry if you struggle with putting your story into words; I ask questions to facilitate this process. In fact, I often joke about how I ALWAYS have questions!
How often should I come to psychotherapy or other complementary therapies?
This answer varies greatly depending on the person and on your goals. With regards to psychotherapy, it is recommended that people participate in weekly psychotherapy sessions for at least the first 6-8 weeks, and then the frequency of appointments may decrease to biweekly sessions as you begin to see progress and feel better. Sessions will often be reduced to monthly appointments as you become closer to graduating from treatment.
The frequency of complimentary therapies varies greatly depending on the presenting concern, which modality you choose, your body’s response, and your individual preferences. I will discuss a detailed plan that includes recommended services, frequency and goals with you during the initial appointment.
Do I have to lay down on a sofa?
No. I do have a sofa in my office, and it is very comfortable. But unlike the old movie portrayals of psychotherapy, people generally remain seated in my office although I do not mind if you sit, stand, pace or stretch during your therapy sessions. In fact, I generally stand most of the time because it has helped heal my back tremendously from a former injury.

There are so many great services offered. Can I combine any of them or choose more than one?
Absolutely!!!! Many of the complimentary services can be either incorporated into, or used to supplement, psychotherapy services. In fact, meditation training is often incorporated into individual psychotherapy sessions at no additional cost! In addition, parents of the adolescents I see will often participate in parent coaching services. Individual and group psychotherapy services can also be completed together. Feel free to contact me for additional details about how it all works.
What are your office hours?
Appointments are scheduled between 7:30 am and end at 5 pm. I occasionally offer Saturday appointments, but these are in high demand. I frequently complete FMLA paperwork for clients to facilitate them obtaining time off from work for appointments without putting their jobs at risk.

I am currently a preferred out-of-network provider for most insurance plans.
